Independence Boulevard to be Extended

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is currently planning a proposal to extend Independence Boulevard approximately 1.7 miles from the Randall Parkway Intersection to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway (U.S. 74).  Based on its current schedule, the Department plans to host an initial public hearing sometime this calendar year to discuss proposed plans.  This project is already funded for $159.8 million dollars which includes an estimated $74.3 million dollars to compensate land owners for eminent domain takings needed to complete this project.  Currently, right of way acquisition for this project is scheduled to begin in 2023.  A link is provided below for more information on the project.  For property owners who own businesses, homes, or land along the “conceptual location of the proposed extension,” we encourage you to keep a close eye on this project as many takings will be necessary in order for the Department to complete this project.  Shawn Evans with The Law Group represents property owners in eminent domain and condemnation litigation.  As a prior attorney for the Condemnation Section of the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Evans previously represented the Department in these unique cases.  Now, he focuses his litigation experience on helping land owners maximize their recovery for unwanted property takings needed for road construction projects.  Contact Mr. Evans today at 910-251-6088 to see how he can help you.  See the link below for more information on this project.  https://www.ncdot.gov/projects/independence-boulevard/Pages/default.aspx
