Pro Se Mediation: Enforceable Agreements

You Have Settled; Now What?

Congratulations!  You have settled your legal matter at mediation without attorneys.  All parties have successfully agreed on all the terms without the involvement of attorneys or the need for litigation, and your mediator has helped you successfully resolve your case.  Now what?  You are not done yet.

To make the terms of your settlement legally enforceable, you need a written Separation Agreement or Consent Order prepared by a licensed North Carolina attorney to memorialize your agreement.  You need the services of an attorney.  You may also need other ancillary documents such as deeds conveying real property or modifying estate documents.  Even if your Mediator is a licensed North Carolina attorney, it is not appropriate for the Mediator to give legal advice and draft the necessary settlement documents.

We can help.  Contact us today to help you finalize your settlement. Family@LawGroupNC.com 910.251.6088
